Our Viana collection is produced in a pottery in northern Portugal. This family-run business has over 30 years of experience in the production of Portuguese stoneware tableware and traditional hand-painting.
Our Viana products are made from regional clay.
The collected raw materials are ground and mixed before being
They are fired at 1200 degrees Celsius. This makes them particularly durable and robust. They are free of lead, cadmium, and selenium and suitable for microwave and oven use.
The glaze of our Viana collection is made from a sedimentary rock, which is also mined locally. The characteristic small speckles are created by tiny particles in the rock and give the tableware its special feel and shine.
The glaze is applied by hand and changes slightly in the kiln, making each piece unique. The speckles are distributed irregularly, creating a unique texture and depth that cannot be reproduced industrially.
Many steps in the production of our Viana line are still done by hand. The factory is a true family business with over 30 years of experience in tableware manufacturing. Tradition and Portuguese craftsmanship play an important role here – and that's precisely what makes each piece so special. With great care and attention to detail, a piece of culture is passed down from generation to generation.
