About

About Us

We are Celina and Sara – twin sisters and the founders of miñota ceramics. With miñota ceramics, we fulfill our dream of creative self-efficacy.

Now for a little explanation:
The word "miñota" is derived from the Portuguese word "minhota," meaning the women of Portugal's northernmost region, Minho. And minhotas, or women from Minho, that's us. Strictly speaking, we are filhas de
uma minhota – the daughters of a minhota. Our mother comes from a small town in northern Portugal. The many beautiful and formative memories of this beautiful region probably have the greatest influence on our aesthetic sense – and thus also on the selection and design of our ceramics.

About

The idea

The entire world has a cult for this opulent art of forms and colors.”

These first words by José Queirós in his book "Portuguese Ceramics and Other Studies" (Portuguese Ceramics and Other Studies) sum up well what ceramics has represented in Portugal, our homeland, since its beginnings: Ceramics is an art for everyone. It has always been that way in Portugal. The famous azulejos are a testament to this.

Sharing this special Portuguese art with others is also our mission. For us, tableware has more than just practical value. Tasteful, high-quality ceramic tableware offers the opportunity to turn an everyday moment into something special, something artistic. Ultimately, it's the small, simple moments spent with loved ones that make life worthwhile. Contributing to these small, simple moments for others also fills us with appreciation. That is the motivation behind miñota ceramics.
